Last Day on the Outer Banks

We have had a great time at the beach but it is time to go home. We spent our last day in North Carolina visiting the Wright Brothers Monument which has become a tradition.

Luca favors Wilbur. Sorry Orville.

Luca's "Cheese"

So now Luca is trained to "cheese" when he takes a picture. It's pretty funny even though it is such a fake smile! Here are some examples of when he uses it:

On the turtle outside the North Carolina Aquarium.

The "big chair" in Manteo, NC.

Having Lunch.

Luca loves watching daddy mow the lawn. So Daddy let him come along.

Lounging in the surf.

In the beach tent.

We have spent some time this summer at the beach club where we had the reception for our wedding. We can't believe it has already been 5 years. This dance has an extra participant.

Back at the beach!

We're back at the beach for a few weeks before we head to Michigan. Luca has been busy. He certainly doesn't let any grass grow under his feet!

Debating whether or not to run down the infamous Jockey's Ridge sand dune.

It always takes a while for Luca to get used to the water but once he does you can't keep him away from it.

Bad hair day!

Look at me, I'm such a big boy!

Walking on the beach with mommy.

Another bad hair day!

Sunset on the sound.

Luca's first corn on the cob. He's already a pro.

Houston, Texas

We just got back from a week in Houston visiting Uncle Sammy, Aunt Martha, and Andrea. We sure had a lot of fun! Luca did a lot of fun things:

Luca spent a lot of time hanging out with his cousin Andrea. He had a blast with her!

Luca experienced his first professional sporting event. We went to a Houston Astros game and that was a lot of fun. You can't go wrong with a professional sporting event (even if it is baseball).

Houston was hot! 100-105 degrees on a daily basis. So Luca got some relief from the spray park downtown.

We went to the Houston Zoo and Luca loved the carousel. Every time he came around he waved at the operator. I think he was trying to get a free ride.

We visited Galveston which was devastated by Hurricane Ike last fall. They have made a lot of progress rebuilding but its an ongoing process. There was a lot of water downtown!

Overall, Luca had a lot of fun playing with his cousins Andrea, Armani and Areli.
